USA Network Announces Major Changes in 2025
USA Network is making headlines with several significant updates in 2025, ranging from the return of WWE SmackDown to international expansion and increased sports programming. These changes are expected to boost the network’s audience reach and solidify its position as a premier destination for entertainment and live sports.
WWE SmackDown Returns to USA Network
One of the biggest announcements is that WWE SmackDown is making a comeback on USA Network as part of a five-year deal. Starting September 13, 2024, the wrestling franchise will return, reinforcing USA Network’s long-standing association with WWE.
As part of the deal, four annual primetime specials will also air on NBC, expanding the reach of WWE content to a broader audience. Another notable change is that SmackDown has shifted to a three-hour format, effective January 3, 2025, offering fans extended coverage and more thrilling matchups.
USA Network Expands into Canada
In an effort to broaden its reach, USA Network has officially launched a Canadian version in partnership with Bell Media, a leading Canadian broadcaster. This expansion, which took place on January 1, 2025, follows Bell Media’s move to rebrand its Discovery Channel after losing rights to Discovery-branded content.
With this new launch, Canadian audiences can now enjoy USA Network’s top-rated TV series, blockbuster movies, and live sporting events. Fans in Canada will also have access to hit programs like Suits, alongside WWE broadcasts and other exclusive content.
Enhanced Sports Programming on USA Network
USA Network has significantly expanded its live sports programming, solidifying its role as a major sports broadcaster. Following the shutdown of NBCSN, the network has taken over key sporting events such as Premier League soccer, NASCAR, golf tournaments, and Olympic coverage.
In July 2024, NBC Sports secured a groundbreaking 11-year deal with the NBA and WNBA, which grants USA Network the rights to air select WNBA games and serve as an alternative outlet for NBA coverage beginning in 2025. This strategic move positions USA Network as a go-to destination for sports fans
