Rekha Gupta, a dedicated leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. This marks a significant milestone for the party as it returns to power in the capital after nearly three decades.
A Strong Political Foundation
Gupta’s political career took off in 1992 when she joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) while studying at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University. Her leadership skills became evident when she was elected as the President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 1996-97. During her tenure, she played a key role in addressing student-related concerns and advocating for their rights.
A Commitment to Public Service
Over the years, she expanded her political footprint by serving as a municipal councillor and taking on crucial roles within the BJP, including in the party’s Mahila Morcha. Her efforts have been particularly focused on women’s empowerment, education, and public welfare initiatives.
A Landmark Victory
In the recent Delhi Assembly elections, Gupta secured a decisive win from the Shalimar Bagh constituency. Her appointment as Chief Minister was confirmed following a BJP legislative party meeting attended by senior leaders.
Looking Ahead
As she steps into her new role, Gupta is expected to focus on governance, infrastructure, and public welfare. Her leadership marks the beginning of a new political chapter in Delhi, with BJP supporters hopeful for significant developmental strides.
Her swearing-in ceremony is set to take place at Ramlila Maidan, with top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in attendance. All eyes are now on how she will shape the future of the national capital.
